Denver Broncos…Always a Major Contender

As one of the American Football League’s original franchises, the Denver Broncos have managed successes and disappointments throughout the years. Located in Denver Colorado, this team works hard both on the field and off.

Invesco Field at Mile High is the home of the Broncos. The stadium replaced Mile High Stadium in 1999. Since then, Invesco Field has been mostly known for the football games played there – although Barack Obama also made his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention – as well as for games played in other sports such as lacrosse and soccer. Invesco holds more than 76,000 seats making it an ideal home for professional football.

On the field, the Denver Broncos have been a moderately successful team. They have enjoyed six trips to the Super Bowl, winning two of them. In Super Bowl XXXII, they beat the Green Bay Packers, and in Super Bowl XXXIII, they won against the Atlanta Falcons.

In 2008, they became the first team in league history to go into the final three weeks of the regular season with a three game lead and lose all three games, effectively losing their shot at the playoffs. After the last loss, the coach, Mike Shanahan was fired and Josh McDaniels was hired to replace him.

In 2009, the Broncos have two additions to the team to look forward to. The Broncos also have a new starting quarterback this season. Kyle Orton has already led the team to a win against the Cincinnati Bengals in their first game of the season.

Off the field, the Denver Broncos are highly involved in their community. They are involved in many youth programs including those that advocate reading, fitness, and education. They also are active in helping the homeless and hungry in the area in the form of game day cash collections, food drives, and food banks. They not only involve the players and staff, but also the families of anyone associated with the team.

The Denver Broncos cheerleaders, aside from rallying support for the team on game day, are also quite involved in the community. They make local appearances and donate a lot of time to charity events. They also visit troops at home and abroad, putting on a 90 minute show that is meant to boost the morale of our troops and thank them for their service to our country.

The Denver Broncos definitely give their fans something to cheer about. Win or lose, these men are loved by their fans, and there is never a dull season in Colorado. This team is definitely a must watch.
